School boards as well as city councils and other public entities "go into executive sessions" on numerous occasions. Many people have expressed concern when the Board of Education goes into executive session. I hope that this page will help straighten out the confusion and also show that it is not only legal but in some cases necessary. Please don't think this is an excuse for not communicating. It's my meager attempt to explain to you all why things happen and clear up any bad information that is bouncing around out there. Please forward questions about Ohio's Sunshine Laws to me at my email. All parts of this publication are important but pay particular attention to items 9, 10 and 13.
